Youth Day
Saturday, July 02, 2005
We had the youth day assembly concert just now or rather yesterday. As usual, we 'volunteered' to look stupid just for our students' viewing pleasure. So much so that I can safely call myself an annual professional fool(if there is such thing). Guess its all for the sake of the kids.:)
But I have to admit, it was fun and had been fun every year n is a definite de-stresser when you have just ended the day with a class among which, 38 out of 39 of them have waited till the very last day of the stimuli compo writing dateline without having produced anything. Having entered the class feeling like santa claus after giving away gifts(4 youth day this time) to other classes and waiting for that very last two periods to give them the painstakingly personalised gifts with love, just for them, the disappointment n anger was rather overwhelming. :(
If last year we were the lollipop girls, me n siti have now earned a new name which is not any better: Teletubbies. n as expected, my cheeky students were imitating us, bumming their tummies at each other. Hehe.:)
But hey, after all this rambling, i forgot. I'm STILL A YOUTH n i deserve a celebration as much as the students did. And that is why I'll be treating myself n Adina to an indulging session of ice-cream at Haagen Daz tomorrow.Actually, a McDonald's hot fudge sundae sounds even better! Woohoo! Hotfudge Sundae here I come!
p.s: Happy Youth Day to all youths and those who still feel youthful! *wink*
